France is globally recognised for its long wine history, which dates back to the 7th century BC (when the first Greek trading posts were established on the Southern shores). Today, wine undoubtedly remains an integral part of French culture, the latter having been heavily influenced by wine’s cultivation throughout the ages, such that France is known as ‘The country of wine’.
Today, France has no less than 85,000 wineries, the vast majority of which consist of small winemakers who sell directly to local private clients, while not having the infrastructure to sell internationally.
With this knowledge, Thomas Mangin - winemaker in Roussillon - and Adrien Niclot - China-based sommelier - decided to bring several winemakers together and launch the concept of ‘Soir d’Ivresse’.
By gathering these winemakers’ productions under one label ‘Soir d’Ivresse’, this union aims to create a link between international wine lovers and those small French winemakers. The French poetic name ‘Soir d’Ivresse’ recalls the first evening when this group of winemakers decided to launch their common project to promote their wines.
In the heart of Alsace, at the foot of the renowned medieval “King's High Castle” (Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg), the winery Les Faîtières features the excellence of Alsatian wines.
Located at an altitude of more than 750m, this majestic castle, founded in the 12th century, has seen many owners pass through conquests.
However, the vine has always been present around the Castle, and has always been recognized for its exceptional exposure and diversity of soils where the grapes ripen ideally for the development of aromas and the concentration of sugars.
Among these fabulous Alsace terroirs are the slopes of the Grand Cru Praelatenberg which has been recognized for its exceptional terroirs since 823 by the winegrower monks of the Abbey of Ebersmunster, and which offers great fruity and expressive Alsace wines in the Riesling and Gewurztraminer grape varieties.
Tasting these wines today means to taste a portion of this thousand-year-old history.
Created in 1890, Maison Jambon is a historical family winery located at the foot of Mont Brouilly. The winery has been through 5 generations and now exploits about 50 hectares of vineyard area. The quality of a wine has always depended on the combination of vine and terroir (the soil and conditions in which the vines are grown).
The cultivation and care of the vines is therefore the key to obtaining grapes of high quality.
For some years, we have been trying to rationalise this aspect, seeking to safeguard our unique terroirs, while respecting the natural environment and eco-system.
Vignobles Pelvillain is located in a beautiful village called Albas, in the heart of the Lot valley. The winery unveils a family history from the 19th century to the present day with a 52-ha vineyard divided in three estates. The uniqueness of Vignobles Pelvillain is based on the resources offered by these three terroirs. Their division foreshadows various specificities in an appellation where the Malbec grape is largely dominant.
In 1978, Didier Pelvillain, the current property owner and a passionate winegrower, took part in the 1st bottling at the property of the family’s vineyard.
He then started a continuous search for constant quality and excellence both on vines and in the winery. "I have vines in my blood, I will be a winegrower" said Didier Pelvillain from an early age when the Cahors appellation was created in 1971. At the head of these vineyards for several decades, he is a major player in the rebirth of Malbec of France and the qualitative revolution of this emblematic grape variety of the AOP Cahors.

Ever since the Middle Ages when the Bishops of Toul were active, the Lelièvre family has been present in Lucey. A passion for wine has been handed down from father to son, a long with the vocation of wine-grower, over many generations.
At first they produced grapes that were sold by weight, but later these grape-growers became vintners, and moreover, they became an important element on the wine-growing scene in Lorraine. Today, Vincent and David work on 20 hectares (nearly 50 acres) of organic vineyards.
Since a good wine starts its lite in the vineyard when the grapes are still on the vines, we take great care to produce grapes of the highest quality. Our vines are located in four of the eight villages in the AOP Côtes de Toul (Lucey, Bruley, Blénod-les-Toul and Bulligny), which allows us to take advantage of the diversity in the terroirs.
Situated on the ‘Terrasses de L’Arago’, the Mangin family - cousins of the ‘Mangin de Champagne’ - produce great wines from Roussillon, a small region between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, which is currently expanding rapidly in France. Their red wines, powerful and generous, come from the Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan grape varieties, while their white wines, fresh and elegant, are made from chardonnay, grenache blanc and Roussanne.
In 1980, Roger Mangin moved in and created his wine estate called “Les Terrasses de l’Arago” , in reference to the cave “Caune de l’Arago”. It was in this prehistoric cave that the bones of a 450,000-year-old Paleolithic man, the oldest human fossil found in France, were discovered. The 35-hectare vineyard is now managed by Thomas Mangin, the 3rd generation, who remains resolutely focused on quality.
These passionate wines, loyal to the Roussillon terroir, showcase the local grape varieties and are regularly rewarded at major international competitions.
Once upon a time, a fairy city in Catalonia called “Mirmanda” was invisible to the ordinary but was only seen by a few shepherds with pure hearts. The magical city was a symbol of prosperity, happiness and love, and today, Mirmanda invites you to discover it, through its outstanding wines.
Mirmanda is a realization of a dream, a dream of Utopia, a dream of crafting great wines. The renowned French actor François-Xavier Demaison and the Best
Sommelier of France Dominique Laporte joined forces, with the love of wine, the terroir of Roussillon and the Mediterranean grapes, to make the wine of their dreams.
Great wines are the fruit of the outstanding terroir and the exceptional hands. Dominique Laporte with his numerous accolades as a sommelier and years of experience in the wine industry reinvents the wine by blending up to 20% of white grapes to the red wine. Mirmanda brings out the refinement and concentration of Syrah, the fruitiness of Mourvèdre, the delicacy and minerality of Grenache, and the marine notes of Carignan grown by the sea. The unique coastal hilly terroir with limestone soil results in the wines reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea, savory, mineral, vibrant, with outstanding balance and complexity.
The celebrity effect may not be why the wines of Mirmanda are worth discovering, the best proof is in the glass. Together with Soir d’Ivresse, we are dedicated to presenting the dream, the passion and people who do the work to the world tables.
Domaine de l’Edre operates in the style of the ‘garagiste’ producers in Bordeaux meaning that they have a few hectares of old vines with exceptional terroir, and a small cellar in town where they produce small-scale quantities of sensationally good wine.
The crucial difference though is that this is Roussillon, not Bordeaux, so it offers excellent value for money.
This micro-winery arose from the passion of two friends, Jacques Castany and Pascal Dieunidou, in parallel with their main activities: Pascal is a bank employee and Jacques works for a transport company. The first vintage dates back to 2002 and soon encountered great success, with awards from Robert Parker propelling them to among the best wines from the South of France. Pascal has recently passed the torch to Pierre Laporte, who continues with Jacques to cultivate the 10 hectares alongside their main jobs (including 5 hectares belonging to the Terrasses de l'Arago) for a small annual production of 15,000 to 20,000 bottles.
The wines produced are powerful, well balanced, with notes of fruit flavours, and are characterised by their artisanal production. The harvest is done manually in crates, with the grapes then destemmed and sorted by hand, before being vinified separately in a plot-based way.
