France is globally recognised for its long wine history, which dates back to the 7th century BC (when the first Greek trading posts were established on the Southern shores). Today, wine undoubtedly remains an integral part of French culture, the latter having been heavily influenced by wine’s cultivation throughout the ages, such that France is known as ‘The country of wine’.
Today, France has no less than 85,000 wineries, the vast majority of which consist of small winemakers who sell directly to local private clients, while not having the infrastructure to sell internationally.
With this knowledge, Thomas Mangin - winemaker in Roussillon - and Adrien Niclot - China-based sommelier - decided to bring several winemakers together and launch the concept of ‘Soir d’Ivresse’.
By gathering these winemakers’ productions under one label ‘Soir d’Ivresse’, this union aims to create a link between international wine lovers and those small French winemakers. The French poetic name ‘Soir d’Ivresse’ recalls the first evening when this group of winemakers decided to launch their common project to promote their wines.
In the heart of Alsace, at the foot of the renowned medieval “King's High Castle” (Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg), the winery Les Faîtières features the excellence of Alsatian wines.
Located at an altitude of more than 750m, this majestic castle, founded in the 12th century, has seen many owners pass through conquests.
However, the vine has always been present around the Castle, and has always been recognized for its exceptional exposure and diversity of soils where the grapes ripen ideally for the development of aromas and the concentration of sugars.
Among these fabulous Alsace terroirs are the slopes of the Grand Cru Praelatenberg which has been recognized for its exceptional terroirs since 823 by the winegrower monks of the Abbey of Ebersmunster, and which offers great fruity and expressive Alsace wines in the Riesling and Gewurztraminer grape varieties.
Tasting these wines today means to taste a portion of this thousand-year-old history.
Created in 1890, Maison Jambon is a historical family winery located at the foot of Mont Brouilly. The winery has been through 5 generations and now exploits about 50 hectares of vineyard area. Maison Jambon is also one of the driving forces that have been making the growing reputation of Beaujolais Appellation.
The estate is managed by the twin brothers Dominique and Emmanuel, who are themselves important figures in the appellation (presidency of the associations of certain wines, recurring passages in the French media).
Some of their wines, such as their chardonnay, have for instance beaten Côtes de Beaune wines at blind tastings.
With nearly 130 years’ vine growing and winemaking experience in Beaujolais, the Jambon family boasts its exceptional know-how to combine modernity and tradition to offer a wide range of the best Beaujolais wines including Crus such as Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Moulin à Vent, Morgon, Régnié, as well as Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais Nouveau and Beaujolais Rosé wine. White wines with Pinot Gris and Viognier are also found there.
Already certified High Environmental Value in 2018, Maison Jambon in 2021 starts to display the organic wine label Vin Bio - AB. A range of wines in organic conversion has arrived under the collection called PURE, a real treasure to be discovered.
The Sirac family has been managing its CHÂTEAU LE PORGE since the 1920s. Their 34-hectare farm is located in the small village of Moulon, 8 km South of Saint Emilion.
The vines, planted in a clay-limestone soil, allow the production of exceptional wines, which are regularly rewarded at wine competitions. Their reds are powerful and faithful to this Bordeaux terroir, while the whites breathe freshness and reflect the proximity of the ocean.
The winery has been certified as HVE (High Environmental Value) since 2018.
Engineer by training, wine grower by practice, Benoit Eschard took over Domaine Jeannin-Naltet in 2011, a family winery founded in 1858 and previously run by the uncle of Benoit’s wife. Domaine Fourrey et Fils is a family estate of 20 hectares with 18 in production in the heart of Chablisian.
The estate is going through their fourth generation from father to son. Since 1992, Jean-luc is in charge of the wine-making with his parents after his studies in Lycée de Beaune, where he obtained a degree in techniques winemaking.
The quality of a wine has always depended on the combination of vine and terroir (the soil and conditions in which the vines are grown).

For some years, we have been trying to rationalise this aspect, seeking to safeguard our unique terroirs, while respecting the natural environment and eco-system.
Vignobles Pelvillain is located in a beautiful village called Albas, in the heart of the Lot valley. The winery unveils a family history from the 19th century to the present day with a 52-ha vineyard divided in three estates. CHAMPAGNE MANGIN & FILS winery has been featuring the elegance of the Pinot Meunier grape variety since the 1980s. In fact, although Champagne is traditionally made as a blend of three types of grapes, the Mangin family decided to focus solely on the one grape variety to best express their terroir in the Marne Valley.
With 11 hectares of vineyards on the heights of Epernay, in the hamlet of Chêne-La-Reine, the winery is today managed by Cédric Mangin. Their four champagnes regularly receive numerous international awards. Champagne Lequart is a family Champagne estate located in Passy-Grigny, in the heart of the Marne Valley. The estate is one of the major players in the Marne valley and in single-varietal Pinot Meunier vinification. Located on the northern slopes of the Marne valley, Laurent Lequart is also very different for their vinification characterized by prolonged ageing in oak barrels, which is even rarer for 100% Pinot Meunier champagnes.
In addition to this very demanding ageing work carried out on these wines, Laurent Lequart also offers a stunning semi-dry champagne, and a Blanc de Blanc from the Marne valley, which denotes other Champagne Blanc de Blanc by a much more generous body.
Winemakers in Châteauneuf du Pape since the 18th century, the Brunel family manages the winery ‘Les Cailloux’, which today covers three areas - Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône and Vaucluse.
Managed by André and Fabrice Brunel - father and son - ‘Les Cailloux’ is recognized as one of the leading Chateauneuf-du-Pape wineries, consistently producing excellent quality wine. These wines are invariably rich, round and fruity, with good ‘garrigue’ complexity. The luxury ‘Cuvée du Centenaire’, only produced in top vintages, has attained cult status, to the extent that collectors battle to secure individual bottles.

Located in the heart of the Nantais country, on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Laurent Freuchet’s winery can be seen as one of the best representatives of the Muscadet region.
As a member of the Independent Winegrowers Association – a pledge of high quality – today Laurent cultivates over 29 hectares, with grape varieties such as melon of Burgundy, Sauvignon and Gewurztraminer for the whites; Gamay, Merlot and Cabernet Franc for the rosés and the reds.
With his deep respect for the environment, Laurent has taken great care to eradicate pests of the vines in the most environmentally conscious way possible. Grassing the rows of vines notably lowers the use of weed killers, as well as other negative impacts on the environment.
The history of Baudry-Dutour dates back to 1993 when two of the most prominent winegrowers of the Appellation, Christophe Baudry and Jean-Martin Dutour met each other and formed a friendship, pooling their tools, their skills, and their talents to create a rich winery history and exceptional wines. The house today manages 4 estates.
Today Baudry-Dutour operates 4 properties in Chinon. Among them, Château Saint Louans is the original land of the Chinon appellation (4 ha), located on one of the limestone puys, the characteristic of Chinon.

Ever since the Middle Ages when the Bishops of Toul were active, the Lelièvre family has been present in Lucey. A passion for wine has been handed down from father to son, a long with the vocation of wine-grower, over many generations.
At first they produced grapes that were sold by weight, but later these grape-growers became vintners, and moreover, they became an important element on the wine-growing scene in Lorraine. Today, Vincent and David work on 20 hectares (nearly 50 acres) of organic vineyards.
Since a good wine starts its lite in the vineyard when the grapes are still on the vines, we take great care to produce grapes of the highest quality. Our vines are located in four of the eight villages in the AOP Côtes de Toul (Lucey, Bruley, Blénod-les-Toul and Bulligny), which allows us to take advantage of the diversity in the terroirs.

Domaine de l’Edre operates in the style of the ‘garagiste’ producers in Bordeaux meaning that they have a few hectares of old vines with exceptional terroir, and a small cellar in town where they produce small-scale quantities of sensationally good wine.
The crucial difference though is that this is Roussillon, not Bordeaux, so it offers excellent value for money.
This micro-winery arose from the passion of two friends, Jacques Castany and Pascal Dieunidou, in parallel with their main activities: Pascal is a bank employee and Jacques works for a transport company. The first vintage dates back to 2002 and soon encountered great success, with awards from Robert Parker propelling them to among the best wines from the South of France. Pascal has recently passed the torch to Pierre Laporte, who continues with Jacques to cultivate the 10 hectares alongside their main jobs (including 5 hectares belonging to the Terrasses de l'Arago) for a small annual production of 15,000 to 20,000 bottles.
The wines produced are powerful, well balanced, with notes of fruit flavours, and are characterised by their artisanal production. The harvest is done manually in crates, with the grapes then destemmed and sorted by hand, before being vinified separately in a plot-based way.
